Catching the Sun

This private commission really tested me, but what a wonderful subject to paint and so rewarding - I love delicate structures and strong contrast, and like most Victorian structures their 'glasshouses' are exquisite buildings.

   This scene is invented, (which made the lighting scheme an interesting challenge!) but the greenhouse is modelled on the lovely Victorian greenhouse at the stunning Bosvigo Gardens in Truro; the artist owner Wendy very kindly let me sketch and photograph the meandering, exquisite gardens, which in summer are open to visitors.
